  • Asian Longhorned Beetle
    70 warehouses have been under surveillance for 4 years. So far no signs of Asian longhorned beetles have been discovered. About 80 sites will be surveyed in 2005. - More info

  • Asian Ambrosia Beetle (Xyleborus glabratus)
    trapped at Port Wentworth 2002; Red bays dying - 2004; Sassafras dying - 2005; Avocado trees planted in infested stands - 2005 no damage yet - More info

  • Emerald Ash Borer
    Placed 20 "trap trees" in Ash stands throughout the state and at 2 major sawmills. No insects have been detected - More info

  • Hemlock Woolly Adelgid
    Survey known Hemlock range for infestations; Located infestations and / or mortality in 8 Counties - 4 severely impacted - More info

  • Gypsy Moth
    A total of 4,326 traps were deployed in 21 counties this year. Three moths were caught last year: Walton, Oconee and White counties. These areas are being delimited this year. - More info

  • Sudden Oak Death
    14 nurseries have been confirmed positive for the SOD fungus (2004). 2 of these have had positive plants again this year (2005); All 14 nursery perimeters have been surveyed for signs of spread. 3 homeowner samples have tested positive - More info
