What is Callery Pear (aka Bradford Pear)?
Breeding and hybridization of Callery pear, or Bradford pear, have contributed to the trees seeding out into natural areas and becoming an invasive issue. In addition, sterile Bradford pears are grafted onto fertile callery pear rootstock. If the trees get damaged or stressed, the fertile callery pear root stock will begin to sprout fertile shoots.
