Yellow-legged Hornet

A specimen hornet with a narrow waist, a yellow-colored 4th abdomen segment, and the bottom half of the insect's legs are yellow. The hornet is pinned securely in front of a ruler guide to indicate size.

What are Yellow-legged Hornets?

This species poses a threat to honeybees and other pollinators in our state. First confirmed live occurrence reported in the US was reported in August 2023 in Savannah. Impacts felt from the presence of this species will have a tremendous affect on Georgia’s agriculture industry.
